Another Dr. Visit

So for the past couple of weeks Allison has been throwing (spitting) up more than normal. I know it's normal for babies to spit up, but Allison's has been REALLY bad! Like, we feed her 4 oz, and she spits up 1-2... I feel like I wear more of her formula than she eats! So we made an appointment to talk to the Dr, just to make sure that nothing horrible was going on... you know how paranoid a mother can get! Well, the doctor said that she is perfectly normal, that all babies throw up and it's only going to get worse as she gets older (like between 4-6 months)! She did get weighed and she is now 13.4 lbs, which the doctor was concerned that she was gaining too much weight! So we went from not gaining enough when she was just born to gaining too much weight! The doctor switched her formula to the anti-spit-up stuff and told us to cut back on her feedings... Instead of 4 oz every 3-4 hours we are feeding 3 oz every 2 1/2- 3 hours. Day 1 Allison seems to like being on a schedule and Chris has his watch set, so no matter what, she is getting fed! She has also slowed down on the spit-up... only 2 times so far! Hopefully this will save me some outfits and help Allison keep her food down! We go back to the doctor on Feb 7 for her 4 month shots so we'll see how she's doing then!

(No pictures this time, but look to the previous post... There are LOTS there!!!)

Merry (Belated) Christmas

Well I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas, we sure did down here! It seemed to take a long time for Christmas to get here, but it ended way too fast! Christmas Eve my mom and I went shopping while Chris and Linda stayed home with Allison, I had some last minute gifts to buy, and my mom is always up for some shopping! We got home just in time to get ready for the Christmas Eve service and then headed to church. Church was really nice, we sat in the balcony with plenty of room for Allison and somehow, she ended up on the end next to my mom and I was on the other end... 5 seats away from her... It was a great service, but I couldn't help but stare at Allison the whole time wishing I had sat closer to her! We went to dinner afterwards and then came home to do some cooking and wrapping. Unfortunately, I got too distracted cooking that I didn't get to the wrapping until the next morning. Chris and I made it to bed around 2 (cooking and cleaning were all done) and Allison woke me up at 4... time to get wrapping presents! I had everything done by 6 and was wide-awake, so Allison and I hung out by the tree with some Christmas music going.

Everyone woke up around 8 and breakfast was at 9. I made a French Toast Casserole (that was really yummy) and then we opened our stockings. I got the turkey ready and put it in the oven and then it was time for presents! Allison was in and out of sleep the whole morning, so she made it for the stockings, but was out by present time! It was actually perfect since there was so much going on that she napped when she did. I was then busy busy with dinner that I actually forgot about her at times... only until she started crying or fussing! Aunt Linda and Grandma took good care of her though!

All in all we had a wonderful day! We had lots of food, great company, and great times! Allison got some very cute outfits, which she desperately needed, and a couple of new toys! I can't wait until next year when she will be more awake and aware of the new toys that she's getting!

Merry Christmas Adam

I feel like such a bad blogger! I've been doing really well, but it seems like lately I'm struggling not only with blogging, but also taking pictures of my baby girl. I'm really trying to do better, but we will see how I do. Today is Christmas Adam (12/23) and I really wanted to blog before Christmas day... I figure we will have a lot to blog about since it's Allison's first Christmas!

The latest news here is that Allison is a pro at smiling... yeah, that's all I got for you. She is so freaking adorable though, I just love to see her smile! She has started doing half-laughs in her sleep, but nothing concrete yet... I am really looking forward to that day! We've been going to church the last 2 weeks and sit in the back of the balcony so that if anything were to happen we could get up and take her out. Well, the first week she was great.... slept through the whole thing. The second week she woke up during the music and looked around in awe, like "You've been holding out on me!" She then fell asleep durning the sermon, so still a good week! Last week we went and she decided that she was going to be wide awake for the music and stay awake the whole time.... the thing is, Allison likes to coo and laugh, which is wonderful when not in a quiet place! She also had to take a poop during the offering, which if you've ever heard her, you know how loud she grunts while pooping... and it usually goes on for about 10 minutes! So, I took her out when it got quiet, so as to not disturb anyone there. We came back (after a diaper change) and she stayed awake and listened to the sermon, finally falling asleep right before he finished.

On other news, Saturday we went and saw Santa! I was so excited! I bought Allison this really cute outfit and she was so precious! It was a beautiful day and Santa was outside on his sled. We had the photographer take her picture, so it would turn out better, and the pictures were great! She looked cute, didn't smile, but still really cute! She had this look of "Who are you?" on her face, but didn't cry! We bought the disc of pictures, so we could print as many as we wanted, and then ran some errands and came home. Well, somewhere along the line I lost the disc!!! I'm so freaking mad! I have not one picture of her and Santa! I guess I'm going to have to go find another Santa so I can prove that she did meet him! (And to get more pictures of her). I have searched high and low for the disc and cannot think of where it could possibly be... my only guess is that when we got in the car, we were trying to change her diaper, so it might have fallen out or something! Either way, I'm pissed!!!

So Chris and I did do some Christmas shopping for her and we (I) did well... first off, there's not a lot of gifts to buy a 3 month old, besides clothes... toys are for 6 months or older, and there's just really nothing else. We (I) did not go crazy on outfits though! We got her 4 new outfits for winter and a couple summer stuff that was like $2-4! (She even has a new swimsuit!) I can't wait to see what else she is getting! I am keeping all of my receipts though, so if she gets A LOT of clothes, we can exchange for bigger sizes!

Here are some pictures of my beautiful baby girl!

I made sugar cookies! Allison even has her own stocking (Yes, I know she won't eat it, but it's the thought that counts!)

Happy Week

Well this week has been very relaxing! We made a quick over-night trip to Birmingham last weekend and chilled for the rest of the time. The big news is that Allison went shopping for her very first Christmas tree and we picked out the perfect one! She enjoyed being out on a beautiful day, looking around while Mommy carried her and watching Daddy lay on the ground to cut the tree! It's so pretty and Allison loves looking at the lights!

While in Birmingham, we cleaned out my mom's garage and basement and I found some great stuff that I had forgotten about! One of the things that Chris loves is a drum my dad bought me while I was in high school (I was going though a percussion phase). Chris put it together last night and throughly enjoyed playing it... Allison was scared at first, but jumped right in and helped Daddy play!

The next thing that I have to worry about it Christmas shopping. Christmas is only 12 days away and I haven't bought 1 present yet! I'm hoping that I will go shopping sometime in the next week and buy some stuff.... not sure what to get Allison, but I'm sure it will have lights and play some kind of music! She doesn't need a lot now, besides clothes, and seems happy with anything that has lights.

Until next time....

Lots Going On

Well last week was pretty relaxing but I still have a lot to report. Friday Allison had her 2 month check up and she is doing great! She weighs 11.8lbs (which feels A LOT heavier when holding her) and is 23 inches long. She is above average for her age! Apparently she has always been above average with her height, but is finally catching up on her weight! The doctor checked her out and said that she was perfect!

And then it happened... she had her 2 month shots! She had to get some medicine orally and while she was focusing on the taste, an dI cleaning her up, it happened! The nurse stuck her with her first shot. Allison had this look on her face like "What the hell?" and started screaming! Then the nurse did the second shot! I'm crying now and Chris is holding his head in his hands... then the third shot! There was nothing too horrible about that except it was on her other leg. Now both of her legs are sore. The nurse told us that she was done and we could dress her. Well I tried but was still crying so Chris took over. He held her while she was still crying but every time he would cradle her she cried harder because he would touch her leg and it still hurt her! It was horrible... she had never made this cry before. It was like "Help me mommy, I'm scared." It was so terrible and I couldn't handle myself. After about 10 minutes she fell asleep and Chris and I went shopping (to make me feel better of course). When she woke up it was like nothing had ever happened. She was perfectly fine and happy. Even slept great that night!!!

Saturday we went to the mall and met up with the kids that I used to babysit! It was so exciting to see the kids again and they LOVED Allison (naturally). It was nice to hang out with them and, of course, they wanted to buy her everything that they saw! We did end up coming home with a colorful new Unicorn (which Allison does like to look at).

Saturday night we also had a couple of firsts. It was the first time that I had to put clothes away that no longer fit Allison.. Tear! She has moved up in size to 3-6 months! Her clothes fit fine, but when she stretches they don't stretch with her! She is too long for them! Also that night Chris and I moved back to our room!!! Allison went to bed at 8:30 and I realized I wasn't sleepy, so we put her to bed and stayed up until midnight and then slept in our bed! It was great! I slept soundly until 8 when she started moving around and woke me up. She has been doing great since then! Sleeps all through the night and wakes up around the same time every morning. She also likes to lay in bed for awhile before crying, so that gets me time to get her bottle ready before she screams!

Finally, yesterday we went to Hobby Lobby and bought some ornaments that I could decorate for Allison's first Christmas. I had a great time decorating and she slept for most of the time, allowing me to decorate them. She did help out by lending me her foot! I have to say, it turned out very well!

Until next time. Enjoy the pics:
